Description
Built on the former railway track , the Petit Témis is the first interprovincial cycle trail in Canada. It connects Rivière-du-Loup in Québec with Edmundston in New Brunswick.
Lined with several rest stops, on average one every 2 km, the trail is just as interesting on foot. The path is made with gravel (3/8 diameter ) and the maximum gradient is 4%, making it accessible to all.
Most of the southern section of 63km runs beside the River Madawaska and follows the contours of Lake Témiscouata . Thanks to this cycle-pedestrian trail, you have access to a wide range of activities. Whether to breathe the fresh air, or discover the 5 municipalities it crosses (Edmundston and St-Jacques in New-Brunswick, Dégelis, Notre-Dame-du-Lac and Cabano in Québec) the Petit Témis is ideal for ecotourism.
Without a doubt the most beautiful section is between Cabano and Dégelis (28 km one way), as it runs along the side of Lake Témiscouata, which is 42 km long.
